Darien Consulting Group, Inc., (DCG) was founded in 1978 by Aidan Harland,
formerly Senior Vice President, American Express International Banking Corporation,
head of International at The Connecticut Bank and Trust Company, and Vice President,
Chemical Bank, New York.
Mr. Harland had been active as the Chairman of the International Banking Executive
Committee of The American Bankers Association. For many years DCG consulted US and
Latin-American financial and corporate institutions regarding trade finance and
foreign exchange. It was one of the first to develop a complete line of trade finance
PC computer solutions for use by US banks.
In 1991, DCG was asked by the then US Council on International Banking
(now the International Financial Services Association) to develop a PC-based system
for member banks to interrogate the Commerce Department's Denial List.
Later the OFAC list was covered too, and DCG acquired the rights to the system.
Since 1991 over 100 banks have used the system in various forms.
In 2005 DCG produced the all-new WatchList Scanner to employ the latest web and Windows
technology and to incorporate a most sophisticated and fast search algorithm.
Darien Consulting Group, Inc. continues to be a privately-held company with deep experience
in the international banking and compliance fields. Being independent enables us to continue
to offer cost-effective solutions.
